Kiowa 800 V
SiC Inverter

Kiowa is a compact 800 V silicon carbide inverter built for wide applicability. The same unit drives high-torque servo axes, propels traction systems, and manages power export, and its intentionally scalable architecture adapts to the motor, network, and power level each application demands.

Modules Required

One Inverter. Three Roles.

Servo drive, traction drive, and power export from a single unit, cutting part numbers and integration effort across your program.

01

Servo Drive

Drives high-torque servo axes for industrial motion and actuation, with resolver or encoder feedback and EtherCAT control for integration into existing motion systems.

02

Traction Drive

Propels traction systems in motorsport and advanced mobility, where over 100 kW/L puts more power in a smaller, lighter envelope.

03

Power Export

Manages power export from the same hardware, whether that means generator-to-HVDC conversion or 3-phase grid forming.

Why Module-Less

The Problem

Conventional power modules put a thermal resistance stack between die and coolant: substrate, solder, thermal interface material, and baseplate. Each layer adds °C/W. At high power density the module becomes the bottleneck, not the device, and the package sets the size.

The Kiowa Approach

Kiowa eliminates the module entirely. Silicon carbide die mount directly to a precision-machined cold plate, removing multiple layers of thermal resistance. That shorter thermal path is what makes over 100 kW/L possible at 800 V.

→ Density by design

Power density is a product of the architecture, not a packaging exercise applied to a commodity power module.

Built to Adapt

Kiowa's architecture scales from 100 kW to 500 kW and beyond. Size and cost track the power rating rather than forcing every program into a one-size-fits-all box, and qualification work carries forward from prototype to production.

Adapts to Your System

Configurable feedback and communication interfaces let Kiowa meet the motor and network you already have, instead of forcing your system to fit the inverter.

About Kiowa

What is Kiowa?

Kiowa is an 800 V silicon carbide inverter platform from SiCore Research. It uses a module-less, direct-die architecture to reach over 100 kW/L peak power density, and one unit can serve as a servo drive, traction drive, or power-export converter.

What power levels does Kiowa cover?

The architecture scales from 100 kW to 500 kW and beyond, with size and cost tracking the power rating.

What interfaces does Kiowa support?

CAN, Ethernet, and EtherCAT communications, with resolver, incremental encoder, or absolute encoder position feedback.

Can Kiowa be adapted to our program?

Yes. Kiowa is designed to adapt to the motor, network, and power level each application demands, and our engineering services team can tailor it or design around it.

How do I get the Kiowa datasheet?
